MidCity, a real estate development and investment firm, and Perkins Eastman, an architecture and planning firm, have teamed to design and develop a 20-acre mixed-use development in Northeast Washington on the south side of Rhode Island Avenue, east of Brentwood Road and west of Montana Avenue.

Groundbreaking on the Brentwood Village development is scheduled for late 2017 and initial demolition of an existing shopping center is set for late 2016. Recently named RIA, the mixed-use development will include residences, a new town center, local shops, pedestrian walkways and green spaces. Plans call for a grocery store, 1,760 residences, a one-acre community green and a new street grid to connect the old and new sections of the neighborhood.
